The Festival Season

I have officially, at long last, begun creating the artwork for this new graphic novel written by the fabulous and talented Kumari Adams.

Just tonight we kicked off a blog which will follow our creation of it, our working together, our quest to find a publisher. I am beside myself with excitement. Please take a sec to look at The Festival Season blog, and check back often because updates should be frequent. A fine adventure!

Heath Ledger

Heath's been gone for many months now and I am still constantly amazed at how many people he managed to touch in such a short life. This drawing is in honor of those friends and co-workers of his who have spoken about his kindness, generosity and his love of art and life. The hands are meant to be theirs--loving, supportive, gentle hands--(*NOT* the grasping, tearing, hate-filled hands of the tabloid media, so-called biographers, and any one else's who chose to exploit his death to make a buck. Those hands don't deserve to ever be celebrated with art.)

I'm very grateful to all who have spoken out on Heath's behalf and this is for them.

Perspective gone awry

Ok these are *not* my art, but they were too good to not post.

At lunch today some co-workers and I went to Taco Bell and my friend got their Kid's Meal. It came with this game which featured a top-like thingy that you spin and see if you can knock down these printed paper standup bad guys.

She was looking at the front of them and noticing the nice foreshortening on the hand and foot closest to the viewer, drawn all bigger than the other to give it that nice sense of depth.

However when she looked at the back of the cards---Hm, apparently not--one of them just has one really giant hand (like Hellboy maybe?) and the other one really big foot. Hilair!
